How to Make the Most of Pinterest – With Limited Time

How to Make the Most of Pinterest – With Limited Time

We get it – there are SO many social media platforms to keep up with these days, and if you’re doing it all yourself, it can be exhausting.

If you’ve got Pinterest on your radar but time isn’t on your side, here’s exactly what we’d do if we only had a few hours a month to spend on Pinterest.

Think of this as your fast-track guide to maximising results with minimal time!

STICK TO A CONSISTENT POSTING SCHEDULE

Consistency matters on Pinterest!

Ideally you would aim to post 4-10 pins daily – but don’t worry, you can schedule them all for the whole month in one go.

Batch-create and plan your Pins so you’re always on schedule. And if scheduling a pin each day feels too much, start with scheduling even just pins three times a week and build from there.

All that matters is that you’re consistent more so than the specific number. Remember that Pinterest themselves say that quality and relevance matter more than frequency!

PIN EXISTING CONTENT YOU ALREADY HAVE

Got product photos or videos lying around? Don’t let them go to waste! Repurposing your existing content is a great way to save time.

Start with your product photos - just remember to resize everything to Pinterest’s recommended size of 2:3 aspect ratio (think tall and narrow) so they stand out.

Then, upload your videos. These are great since they attract more attention on Pinterest, with 3x higher click-through rates compared to static pins! You can upload them directly without any editing if you're in a hurry, but if you can, add some text overlay in the Pinterest app directly.

Look at your Instagram content too, and resize any images or videos from there to fit Pinterest and share with your audience. This way, you’re making the most of what you already have.

If you need some inspiration beyond that, we also have a list of 50 pin ideas here

ALWAYS, ALWAYS ADD LINKS TO PINS

Each Pin should be a mini pathway to your website. As Pinterest themselves say, when you add a link to your Pin, you’re giving your audience a clear next step!

Add a link to every Pin, and make sure it’s relevant to the content. The closer the match between your Pin and its link, the more likely viewers will click through to learn more or shop.

USE KEYWORDS IN PIN DESCRIPTIONS

Pinterest is essentially a search engine, so adding keywords in your descriptions helps get your Pins discovered. Pinterest Trends is a great way to find out what’s currently trending within your topic or niche! You can the the example above for trending searches around "marketing".

And if you’re short on time when it comes to writing the whole description, AI tools like ChatGPT can help generate a good starting point to work from – just plug in some product or theme info with the keywords you’ve found and away you go!

CREATE FOCUSED PINTEREST BOARDS

Start with a few foundational boards. If you have product collections, create a board for each one. And here are 5 of our best essential boards ideas if you need more ideas to get you started!

As you start Pinning, add those Pins to their respective boards.

Then, create at least 1 trendy or holiday-themed board each month, like “Christmas Party Looks” or “Halloween Decor.” This helps you stay relevant without needing to create entirely new content!

YOU'RE READY TO GO!

Even with limited time, a consistent, strategic approach on Pinterest can work wonders! Set aside a few hours each month to follow these tips, and you’ll start seeing results without spending hours on end.
